I returned to Florence after a month and a half in Texas to renew my documents. During my visit, I had the time to see my family and friends. I also had the opportunity to take advantage of the cultural differences that America has to offer. Some of these include:
1)Eating at my favorite restaurants: Even though I LOVE Italian food, I believe that a person will always miss certain foods from their country of origin. I am also Texan and enjoy Mexican food. The Mexican food here is different because the availability of specific products and the way they are made.
2)Going to certain stores: Because I am without a car and certain stores are not available in Italy, I had the chance to go to local malls, Super Target, Best Buy, etc. In Italy, most stores here can be considered "Mom and Pop" stores because they are small. However, they do offer a more intimate experience because there are less people running the business.
3)Living at home: Being home was a nice break from Italy. In Italy, the houses that I stayed in didn't have luxuries such as bathtubs, air conditioning, carpet, etc. I do realize that Italy is an older country and therefore not all living situations are equipped with these things.

Although I have had off and on experience in this country over the past three years, there is still much to be told. Things happen to me here that are "amazing." Unfortunately, this adjective has a double meaning. Occurances can be amazingly wonderful, or at times,I find myself thinking, "wow, I can't believe something like that just happened....amazing." Luckily through faith and patience, when the negatives come along, I usually end up laughing because there is nothing you can do when in a foreign country. Most people will never understand what has gone through my head both positively and negatively. I will keep this blog as updated as possible in order to give a basic idea of what goes on.
